Matthew Marks is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Jean-Marc Bustamante.

This exhibition will consist of eight new sculptural installations in a variety of media including metal, glass, wood and photography which will be on view at the Matthew Marks Gallery, 522 West 22nd Street. This will be Jean-Marc Bustamante's first exhibition in New York.

Jean-Marc Bustamante was born in 1952 in Toulouse, and originally studied economics and photography and worked briefly in film. He has been exhibiting his sculptures and photographs in Europe since the early 1980s. His first one person museum exhibition was at the Kunsthalle Berne in 1989, and his first one person exhibition in the United States was at the Renaissance Society in Chicago in 1993. He has also had one-person exhibitions at the Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg and the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. He was also included in Documenta VIII (1987) and Documenta IX (1992).

Most recently Jean-Marc Bustamante's work is the subject of a major exhibition at the Jeu de Paume in Paris which includes many of the works which will be on view at the Matthew Marks Gallery.
